On 11 November, members of the Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register (MSVCR) once again joined hands with the Tanglin Club, Singapore Airlines (SIA) Engineering Department, The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), and Aerospace Partners for the annual CPAS Christmas Lights Night Drive. Now in its ninth year, the event saw around 38 classic and vintage cars take children from the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) on an evening drive along Orchard Road to enjoy the city’s Christmas lights.

Leading the convoy was a 1955 MG TF convertible tasked with taking Santa on the run, followed closely by the oldest car present — a beautifully restored 1931 Rolls-Royce. The convoy set off from the Tanglin Club, filling the night with laughter, smiles, and a little Christmas sparkle.

MSVCR President David Thomson, who joined the event, said the annual drive began as a simple idea from one of the club’s members and has continued thanks to the enthusiasm of volunteers and partners who want to share their love of old cars in a meaningful way. “It’s a small thing we can do to bring a bit of joy,” he said. “Seeing the children’s smiles makes it all worthwhile.”

The evening reminded everyone that while these cars are part of history, their real value lies in the happiness they can bring when shared with others — a simple, heartfelt way to start the festive season.
